In 1995, Al Jaynes, Founder and President of TORM, was having dinner with a Filipino pastor.  Al knew that most of the pastor's members spoke English and that he served in a very poor part of Manila. Sometime during the evening, Al asked the pastor what a Bible would cost in the Philippines. He thought for a minute and said "for one of my members, it would be four or five days in wages." Al wondered how many Bibles he and his wife, Era, had at home.  He went home and counted 22 Bibles. He immediately started trying to find out how to send some of them to the Filipino pastor. He discussed his dream with a man who had been smuggling Bibles into Cuba, and found himself making the trip to the communist island in May 1997.  Al saw people line up, pushing and shoving for a Bible in these little towns. Those experiences led to the birth of TORM.  The first shipment was made in July 1997.

ABOUT US

In October 2013, the Founder and President of TORM, Al Jaynes, went to be with the Lord.  His servant's heart and commitment to the building of the Kingdom of God will be greatly missed, but the vision and mission of TORM will continue under the leadership of Ric and La Rhonda Howard. The Howards were introduced to TORM by a pastor in need of children's Bibles in 1998. TORM's warehouse was opened freely to meet the need.  The Howards embraced the opportunity to partner with TORM in spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ worldwide.  They have had the privilege of serving with TORM for 14 years. The Howards' are honored to be selected to continue to fulfill the vision of Al Jaynes.
